Much of medical practice doesn't work as intended and that includes drugs and surgical procedures. Hopefully, they don't cause any harm but that is not always the case. Of course, we can't overlook the placebo effect, which is far more common than anyone wants to admit. Question everything and try to understand as much as possible.
